Code of Federal Regulations, purpose of this part is to describe the Social Security Administration (SSA) policies and procedures for implementing the requirements of the Privacy Act of 1974, 5 U.S.C. 552a and section 1106 of the Social Security Act concerning disclosure of information about individuals, both with and without their consent. This part also complies with other applicable statutes.
Social Security and Acquiescence Rulings, Rulings are published under the authority of the Commissioner of Social Security and make available to the public a series of precedential decisions relating to Federal old-age, survivors, disability, supplemental security income, and black lung benefits programs. All references to individuals or specific businesses involved have been avoided so as not to disclose confidential information, unless already a matter of public record, as in a Federal court decision.
